Mexico City

July 10, 2012
This morning we visited Chapultepec Castle in Mexico City. The site of the hill was a sacred place for Aztecs, and the buildings atop have served several purposes during its history; including a Military Academy, Imperial residence, Presidential home, and presently, the Museo Nacional de Historia. www.mnh.inah.gob.mx

There are many murals in the Museo Nacional de Historia. This one above, Del Porfirismo a la Revolucion by David Alfaro Siqeiros was his interpertation of histroy during the Mexican Revolution. This mural took up several walls from celing to floor.

This Cinderella-goes-to-the-ball style coache was given to Maximilian as a gift and only used four times.

Life styles of the Mexican presidents.

Next, we walked over to the National Museum of Anthropology. The museum is tremendous and extremely overwhelming. My brain was on overload! www.mna.inah.gob.mx

We watched a performance of Lucha Libre. Some of you may be familiar with this type of fighting from the movie “Nacho Libre.” It was very comedic to see grown men in masks, costumes made of spandex and pleather “fight” in a ring. It was very similar to WWE style fighting.
